AFCON 2023: Meet the Head Coaches in Group C
Senegal: Aliou Cissé, 47, is the coach of the Senegalese national team. He was a former Senegalese player and was known for his good defensive skills. Cissé participated in the TotalEnergies CAF African Cup of Nations as a player and coach. He was a finalist in 2002 and finally won the coaching title in 2021. After playing for different French and English clubs, Cissé retired in 2009 and made a coaching change. He became the head coach of the Senegal national team in 2015 and made history by leading Senegal to win their first ever TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations title in February 2022.
Cameroon: Rigobert Song, who is also 47 years old, is the coach of the national team of Cameroon. He had a successful playing career, winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 2000 and 2002.
