CAF Football Members and Zones Countries: The Confederation of African Football (CAF) acts as the governing body for football, futsal and beach soccer associations in Africa. Its current headquarters are located in 6 de Octubre, Cairo, Egypt.
CAF was founded on February 8, 1957, during a meeting at the Grand Hotel in Khartoum, Sudan. The founding members of CAF were the football associations of Egypt, Ethiopia, South Africa and Sudan. This establishment followed official discussions between these parties at the FIFA Congress held on June 7, 1956 at the Avenida Hotel in Lisbon, Portugal.
Since its inception, CAF has played an important role in the organization and management of football activities across the African continent, including major tournaments such as the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) and other regional competitions. Its mission is to promote and develop football in Africa while promoting unity and cooperation between member associations.
