These words were evident on Thursday morning, 18 January, when Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga hosted a breakfast for ministers and the top achievers of 2023 and their parents at the MTN Innovation Center in Joburg.

Addressing those who achieved great success, the minister congratulated those who succeeded with hard work and saw them as a beacon of hope in the country.

“Your adaptability and confidence as a high achiever continues to show and prove that excellence can be achieved in the face of diversity and even adversity.

“We realize that every child is a pillar on which the future of this nation will be built… When you start your future activities whether in higher education or other activities, carry with you the lessons that brought you here as well as the values that you were instilled with in your year of studies,” Motshekga said.

He said this a few hours before releasing the results of the National Matriculation Certificate (BMT) 2023 at 6pm on Thursday, 18 January.

Motshekga said the success of these students proved that success can be achieved despite difficulties.

Meanwhile, MTN SA chief human resource officer Tebogo Maenetja advised students not to lose sight of the small joys while pursuing their dreams.

“Dream big but also dare to take small chances towards those dreams. Remember that the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single tear. When you stand ready to cross this new phase in your life, I want you to first embrace failure as a stepping stone. Don’t be afraid but embrace it as a part of growth yours.

“Secondly, be curious and keep learning. The world is your classroom and everyone you meet has something to teach you,” he said.

At the same time, the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) announced the results of its 2023 breast class, which is 98,46% in the national National Certificate (NSC) exam of 2023.
