To obtain a new certificate, you will pay a fee of KShs 5,800 (plus 16% VAT), which you will need to deposit into any KNEC account with Standard Chartered Bank, Cooperative National Bank and (NBK ) Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB). Here are the steps to follow to obtain a new document:

  1. Fill out an application form for a replacement certificate and submit it to the Council Secretary or Chief Executive of KNEC. The address is P. O. Box 73598 – 002000, City Square, Nairobi. You can get the forms in the KNEC offices or on the council’s website.
  2. The application should be attached to a letter from the high school to prove that the student had an authentic KCSE certificate from a recognized institution. If you sat your exam in a private school, or if your school closed down, you should acquire the letter from the PDE (Provincial Director of Education) or DEO (District Education Officer).
