The Tanzania Examination Council (NECTA) is a Government Institution that was established by Act of Parliament number 21 of 1973. NECTA is responsible for managing all Tanzania National Examinations.
The decision to establish NECTA was a follow-up to the previous step, in April 1971, when Mainland Tanzania withdrew from the East African Examinations Council (EAEC) and conducted its own examinations. Zanzibar withdrew from EAEC in 1970.
Before withdrawing, between 1968 and 1971, Tanzania conducted the Foreign Secondary School Examinations jointly conducted by the East African Community, which before that was conducted only by the Cambridge Examinations Council.
The examinations held by the Cambridge Examinations Council at the time were the School Certificate and the Higher School Certificate Examinations.

The Tanzania Examinations Council has made improvements to the Continuous Marking System (CA). In these improvements, CA filling will be done in every class from the first to the sixth form.
In addition, the filling of CA for all classes will be done immediately after the completion of the CA guide and presented to all schools in mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.
Because the Guide has not reached all schools, you have been directed to fill out the CA for fourth form 2021 candidates of their classes when they were in third form and fourth form by following the following instructions.
a) Log in to the PReMS CA menu system, Top section showing REGION, DISTRICT, SCHOOL and FORM, select ‘Form IV’, ensure that the time of promotion and download of Form IV (Form IV) does not change as shown in Appendix No. 1.
b) When you have finished filling in the relevant template, click ‘File’, click ‘Save as’ (Appendix No.4)
c) It will open another page that wants you to fill in the FILE NAME and SAVE AS TYPE, on FILE NAME will fill in the file name as you wish, in SAVE AS TYPE select ’97 -2003 workbook ‘, then click ‘Save’ (Appendix No. 5)
d) When you have finished saving your template, go back to the system in the ‘CA’ menu section, select the appropriate form according to the template you want to upload, select ‘Bulk Upload‘, it will open another page showing ‘Choose File’, select file When you select it you will click ‘Upload File‘. (Appendix No. 6)
e) After clicking Upload File, wait until the system finishes uploading your file. After that, Go to menu labeled ‘Report’ (Appendix No. 7)
f) In the opening report, make sure there is no blank space in all the lessons for the students all, if so then you have finished upgrading the CA, if there is an unfilled part, make sure you also fill it fully.
