The match was held at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake.
Tembo started the game with a challenge, with Mali creating many chances to score. This eventually led to Mali being awarded a penalty in the early stages of the game. Despite these early setbacks, Cotê d’Ivoire showed resilience and determination, eventually turning the game around to win.

In the match between Mali and Côte d’Ivoire, Lassine Sinayoko was fouled in the danger zone by Odilon Kossounou of Côte d’Ivoire, causing a penalty to be awarded to Mali after Kossounou received a yellow card. However, the penalty was saved by the goalkeeper of Côte d’Ivoire, Yahia Fofana.
Kossounou was later sent off in the first half after receiving a second yellow card for another challenge against Sinayoko. This left Côte d’Ivoire with a man down for the rest of the game.
Despite being the underdogs, Côte d’Ivoire managed to stop Mali’s dominance for a while in the second half. However, Mali finally broke through and scored the first goal in the 71st minute, and managed to penetrate what they were pushing for throughout the game.
Nene Dorgeles weaved through the defense line of Côte d’Ivoire and found an open space and scored from just outside the danger area to beat Yahia Fofana for the first goal. Cotê d’Ivoire unexpectedly equalized through Simon Adingra after scoring from a rebound following Seko Fofana’s long shot. Oumar Diakete scored in the final minutes of extra time with a backheel to secure victory for Cotê d’Ivoire.
