Miguel Gamondi Makes Premier League Comeback with Singida Black Stars

In a strategic move ahead of the 2025/26 season, Singida Black Stars has officially confirmed the appointment of Miguel Gamondi as its new head coach. This decision marks the official return of the former Yanga SC manager to the NBC Premier League, consolidating his presence in Tanzanian football.

Gamondi, recognized for guiding Young Africans SC (Yanga) to the league title during the 2023/24 season, has signed a one-year contract with Singida Black Stars. His return is expected to bring technical experience and strategic leadership to the club, particularly ahead of the domestic competition and the CAF Confederation Cup.

The announcement was made by Hussein Masanza, the club’s official spokesperson. He clarified that this change is part of the club’s overall strategy to improve its performance next season.

The club’s Board of Directors has decided to restructure its coaching staff, appointing Miguel Gamondi as head coach, while David Ouma, who previously led the team, will now become assistant coach.

“After much speculation, we have now clarified everything. Miguel Gamondi has signed a one-year contract. David Ouma will now be the assistant coach,” Masanza stated.

Gamondi will be assisted by David Ouma and Moussa N’Daw, the latter a new addition to the coaching staff. This combination is expected to improve the team’s tactical discipline and competitiveness at both the national and continental levels.

Gamondi’s Previous Achievements in Tanzania

Miguel Gamondi first arrived in Tanzania during the 2023/24 season, where he took charge of Yanga SC. Under his leadership, the club won the Premier League title and maintained an excellent level in all competitions. However, he left the club on November 15, 2024, after a brief but successful spell.

His previous successes have made him a respected figure in Tanzanian football, and many expect him to be a valuable asset to Singida Black Stars, especially as the team prepares for a challenging season both domestically and in CAF tournaments.

Ouma’s Role After Transition

Despite stepping down from the head coach position, David Ouma remains a critical part of Singida Black Stars’ coaching unit. In the 2024/25 season, Ouma helped the club finish fourth in the Premier League with a total of 57 points. Additionally, he led the team to the finals of the FA Cup, though they lost 2-0 to Yanga SC, who claimed their fourth consecutive title.

His knowledge of the players and understanding of the team’s structure will be instrumental in supporting Gamondi as the club looks to build on its recent achievements.
