As a result, Mbali finds himself on the wrong side of the law and decides to escape his mother’s inheritance. He flees to Grahamstown University in Makhanda, where he embarks on a journey of discovery, determined to break away from his troubled family past.
The Long Path to change is not uncommon. He takes on various roles, from driving a college taxi to being a part of the college gossip show, “The Spill”, hosted by Raeesah. He even decides to run an ambitious campaign for the Student Representative Council (SRC). His transformation is driven and inspired by his circle of new friends, including Jay and Natalie, who form a unique squad of misfits.
The SRC campaign is very important, with Mbali competing with various competitors. They include local rowing champion and beauty, Sivu Levine, who also has a strange relationship with Mbali. Other candidates in the race include veteran president and long-time university activist known as ‘Comrade’ Caesar, as well as conspiracy expert Hotep Mubarak.
This complex and powerful narrative depicts Fari’s journey of self-discovery, change and ambition as he navigates the challenging and competitive world of college politics. The story promises a mix of drama, comedy and personal growth as Mbali tries to prove herself in college and leave her mother’s corrupt legacy behind.
