NSFAS 2024 Applications Now Open
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has set the application deadline of 2024 for students seeking financial assistance to study in 2024. Prospective students can apply for NSFAS scholarships on the official website using the process online application. The application window will be open until January 31, 2024, giving students more than two months to submit their funding request.
Students receive housing allowances, food allowances and stationery allowances from NSFAS. Adjustments are made to allowances for students living at home or in accommodation and catering services. Students are eligible for NSFAS funding if they are South African citizens and live in households with a combined income of no more than R350 000 per annum. Students with disabilities have an upper threshold of R600 000 per year. This can be specified on the NSFAS online application form when applying for funding.
No matric results are required prior to NSFAS 2024 application
NSFAS encourages all eligible students to submit their applications by the deadline. They also reminded Year 12 students that second degree results are not a requirement for submitting an NSFAS application.
Therefore, students who took their form four exams at the end of 2023 do not have to wait for their form four exam results to be released on January 19 before applying for NSFAS funding. You can now create an account on the MyNsfas student portal and submit your application. If your Matric results are successful, they will be automatically linked to your application as soon as they are published.

NSFAS revealed that it was in discussions with the Department of Basic Education (DBE), to improve the application verification process, particularly regarding parent relationships. These amendments aim to improve the verification procedures and ensure timely confirmation of funding decisions.
