REMINDER: SASSA Grants can be collected from TOMORROW – The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has launched the payment schedule for the 2023/24 financial year. The scale specifies the first week of each month for the payment of allowances to the elderly, children and people with disabilities.
After this first week, recipients of social distress assistance (SRD) receive their payment, then all other types of assistance are distributed. It is important to note that while all beneficiaries except SRD beneficiaries can collect their payments at South Africa Post branches, SRD beneficiaries benefit from a different arrangement.
This structured approach ensures an orderly and planned distribution of Social Security benefits throughout the year, prioritizing specific subsidy categories during specific weeks. Recipients of government grants using gold cards issued by the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) are advised to continue to use them for their transactions until further notice. This follows Post Bank’s announcement last week.
Cardholders were previously advised to renew their cards before December 31. The expiration date is no longer applicable and the card is valid as last configured. This means that recipients of the subsidy can continue to use these gold cards to withdraw money.
