Bafana Bafana Squad For Eswatini and Ivory Coast clash: Broos names Bafana squad to face Eswatini and Ivory Coast.
Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has finalized his 23-man squad for the upcoming friendlies against Eswatini and Ivory Coast later this month. He had previously named a provisional squad of 36 players, but has now reduced it to 23.
South Africa will host Eswatini on Friday, October 13, with the match scheduled for 6:00 p.m. After this match, South Africa will travel to Ivory Coast on October 17, 2023 for their next match.
These friendly matches are an important part of Bafana Bafana’s preparations for the CAF Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for January 2024 and the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers to be held in November 2023. These selection matches will provide an important opportunity for the team to strengthen their skills . and techniques before this important competition.
SAFA (South African Football Association) has yet to confirm the venue for the friendly match against Eswatini. The players are scheduled to report to camp on October 8 in Johannesburg and will begin their journey to Ivory Coast on October 14.
In particular, this squad marks the return of Njabulo Blom, who was dropped from the team by the coach last month during international friendlies against Namibia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
It is worth mentioning that the team includes Kaizer Chiefs player, Sibongiseni Mthethwa. This selection reflects the coach’s options as he prepares for the upcoming friendlies and participation in the CAF Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
