Percy Tau headlines South Africa AFCON Squad: Al Ahly star Percy Tau is expected to lead South Africa’s attack in the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast 2023. Tau, the CAF club player of the year, was selected as a key player in the Bafana Bafana squad, announced and coach Hugo Broos on Thursday, December 28.
The squad includes some notable players including key players from Mamelodi Sundowns who enjoyed success in the African Football League. These include Ronwen Williams, Aubrey Modiba, Teboho Mokoena and star player Themba Zwane.
Bafana Bafana have been drawn in Group E for the tournament, where they will face Mali, Namibia and Tunisia. With a mix of experienced players and young talents, the team aims to make a big impact under the leadership of coach Hugo Broos, who led the team to victory in the 2017 TotalEnergies AFCON.
The inclusion of Percy Tau, along with other key players, is a manifestation of South Africa’s determination to compete at the highest level in the CAF Africa Cup of Nations and strive for success in this prestigious tournament.
