PSL Transfer News: Royal AM coach Maduka on January Window – Royal AM coach John Maduka says it will be painful to see clubs sign players in this January transfer window, but he cannot do so due to FIFA’s global ban.
The KwaZulu-Natal club are currently unable to sign players due to a FIFA ban imposed over the next two transfer windows following the illegal termination of Samir Nurkovic’s contract. Shauwn Mkhize’s club have been found guilty by FIFA of cheating the player, letting him leave without resolution.
The player won his case before the World Football Confederation, because he believed that he was within his rights and that the club was unfair according to them.
Royal AM attempted to have the case overturned at the Swiss Court of Arbitration for Sport, but this was unsuccessful. As things stand, they cannot sign or recruit new players until the start of next season.
“That’s true,” Maduka replied when asked how painful it would be to see other clubs signing players and he can’t.
“You know you can’t do anything. You have to work with everything you have. What can you do? You continue with what you have.
The club also left the grounds of Durban’s Chatsworth Stadium to play home matches at Pietermaritzburg’s Harry Gwala Stadium, home of Maritzburg United for years, relegated by Msunduzi Municipality after being relegated at the end of last season .
The Royal AM signed a three-year municipal trust agreement which did not go down well with the KZN capital DA and took the matter to court. Maduka, who was reappointed by the club in February last year, is happy with the way the club has responded to all these issues.
